No 8 Mini Lane, Littleton
Welcome to the house with the green door! Open up and come right in. Don't worry, the dogs are very friendly and the welcoming smell of baking fills the air.
Each brick on the facade of the verandah and the steps was painted and cut from egg box then glued onto the wood. The paving stones are also made from egg box with gravel and flocking in between. |
The Study
The Pennsylvania Secretary desk which dominates the room was made in a Masterclass over a period of a year. The plan was adapted from a full scale carpenters plan with full joinery. The piece is made from Imbuia with brass hardware. All furniture in the room was handmade by myself. Watson the Scottish Terrier keeps watch from his favorite spot at the window, comfortably ensconced on a wing-back chair.
The Kitchen
The kitchen recently underwent a complete renovation. I went for a shaker inspired look with open shelves displaying the family silver and copper pots. I made a small Aga stove to complement the country feel, with a large chimney breast above it. On the right we have a Belfast sink and prep table. Above the sink are shelves with crockery and a colourful tile back splash livens up the corner. Shelves above the prep table are full of jars of dry goods. All the units in the kitchen were custom made to fit the space.
The Parlour
Recently completely renovated to a style I like to call "restrained Victorian", a richly decorated room which showcases some treasures and pieces made at workshops. I made the various flower arrangements and hot-house plants, while other pieces in the room are a result of many years of collecting.
Master Bedroom
This room is a work in progress, still needing some window dressing and art work.
Dining Room
A magnificent Victorian Fireplace and Over-mantle dominate this room where the table is elegantly laid for dinner with the finest china. Displayed on the mantle is a collection of miniature pewter beer tankards and steins. The Macintosh style chairs were made at a workshop, as was the mantle and the buffet. A miniature silk Persian rug completes the picture.
